Howdy, Becks?

So superfutbolista David Beckham has been left off the roster for England's national team. It kind of makes me wonder, is his star starting to fade, or is this just a signal of a new era for England. And, exactly when do we start the clock ticking for his imminent arrival on the LA Galaxy?

I think Beckham's time is up for England. They have a bit too much talent on the right at the moment (the boy Lennon at Spurs and Pennant, who's just gone to Liverpool). He'd be a great signing for a MLS team - he's still got a bit in the tank, he'd massively raise the profile of the league, and he wouldn't be bad for their bank balance either (he wouldn't be able to command the sort of money he's on at Real Madrid at the moment, either).

Surely, given the place that his first child was conceived and Victoria's love of shopping, wouldn't RBNY be a more suitable place for him?

Man, isn't RBNY the place for any high-profile talent? That's all I ever hear, Zindane/Ronaldo/etc. is going to play for RBNY. But I only mention the LA Galaxy because Becks has that soccer academy in LA and he and Posh have a house.

I'm sure he could commute. And, without wishing to dwell upon the subject for too long, he and his wife have some very happy memories of Brooklyn. Or at least one would hope that they were happy.

I've heard the Galaxy rumors. Beckham coming to MLS would do wonders for US soccer. I'll keep my fingers crossed since I live in SoCal.

Beckham practically carried the entire England team this World Cup. I'm not sure that he's been given the credit he deserves this year.

The criticism of him at the World Cup was harsh, but the future of English football is the (frankly stunning) Aaron Lennon. Still, the Saints won today and I am happy beyond caring.

Why not take the $1 million or more per year that a Beckham would require and sign 3-4 very good imported players at $300,000 a year?

No, it wouldn't have the marketing power, but it would do alot more to raise the level of play in the league. Soccer is a game of 11 players, adding one star (who has maybe 3 years of top quality play left) does do much to improve overall play.

    what do you guys think?
